Planning for difficulties and emergencies

It is advisable to make arrangements should the situation arise that you are unable to fulfil your caring role. This may be because you are ill or go into hospital, or you may need additional support if the needs of the person you care for change suddenly.

Carers Response Emergency Support Service (CRESS) is a free membership service set up to provide an emergency support plan, to ensure that the person you care for is well looked after in your absence. You can register with this service for free.

Having a contingency plan in place would reduce the worry on you, your family and the person you care for, if an emergency were to happen.
