Green Parties

Set within the 80 acres of nature at the Alan Higgs Centre, a wide range of "green parties" are available for a party full of fun in the natural surroundings. Some Green Parties are now also available at Xcel Leisure Centre! Choose from one of the following fun packed and stimulating options.

 

Birds of Prey

 

Would you like to experience the thrill of flying a hawk, falcon or owl from your own gloved hand? The Birds of Prey party will provide children with an insight into these fascinating creatures and offer the opportunity to handle them under the supervision of fully experienced professional.

 

Suitable for 4 to 11 year olds – a maximum of 20 children.

 

Note: Advance booking essential as availability is dependent upon handlers.

 

Build Me a Home

 

Have you always wanted to provide a shelter for the hedgehog in your garden and learn how you can help it survive through the winter months? Would you like to create a cosy home for your garden birds, so they can nurse their new born chicks in spring?

 

In this party, children will learn everything about our most common garden friends and will build a new home for either a hedgehog or a bird family.The group will then place the new home within a specially chosen location at the Alan Higgs Centre.

 

Suitable for 4 to 11 year olds – maximum of 15 children.

 

  

Treasure Hunt

 

How are your investigative skills?

Dividing your party into 2 teams, you will need to solve a series of clues and use a map to be the first team to locate and win the hidden treasure.

 

Suitable for 4 to 7 year olds or 8 to 11 year olds – maximum of 15 children

 

I'm a Child – Get Me Outta Here!

 

Dividing the party into 2 groups, each team will be challenged to orienteer their way through a course using a map, collecting on their way the necessary instructions to build their very own survival den! Will they survive in the Sowe Valley?

 

Suitable for 8 to 11 year olds – maximum of 15 children

 

 

Play and Display

 

How do bats see? Why are most of the little creatures that live in wood and grasslands brown and green? What do seeds need to become plants? How does a food web work? This party is especially suitable for the winter months, to enjoy a range of games that explain concepts of adaptation, camoflage, germination and food chains. Each party also involves an arts and crafts session so that children can take their creativity home with them.

 

Suitable for 4 to 7 year olds – maximum of 20 children.

 

It's a Small World

 

The minibeasts safari will take the young party on a tour through the various areas of nature interest and ponds along the Sowe Valley at the Alan Higgs Centre, equipped with nets, magnifying lenses and key charts from which they will identify the various species of minibeasts that they capture.

 

Suitable for 4 to 7 year olds or 8 to 11 year olds.- maximum of 15 children

 

 

 

Parties consist of an hour fun and exploration,followed by half an hour to eat party food ( not included) All parties need to be booked well in advance and require an element of parental supervision.
