Elaine Ward

I have an NVQ 3 in Childcare and Education.
I visit libraries for story time and the children are able to choose books that we can share when we do story time,  ,visit parks, farms and nature reserves and we go to Coombe Abbey so the children have experiences of the world around us.I attend two childminding groups one at St Augustine's Children's Centre and one at Coundon Methodist Church .I also go to Radford School parent and toddler group which encourages transition into school  . I also go to the allotment where children experience growing vegetables and fruit ,using tools and safety ,children are able to choose what they want to grow and see the process on hand from seed tomato product then to cooking and eating it.We have lunch at the allotment as we  have a covered area with table and chairs .I meet up with another childminding so activity is in a larger group .i have a large garden with a play area,a grassed area for ball games,a patio area for cars, bikes ,trikes and scooters, I have a decked area outside to enjoy messy play outdoors.
I have a playroom and a full range of activities for all children in my care. I follow the Early Years framework from 0 - 5 years and regularly observe and assess children in my care to ensure they are achieving and developing as the child should while having fun and learning through play.I plan activities on a weekly basis with individual planning for each child so they are able to develop and learn through play with the child's interest with in this .To enable the child to achieve their next steps .I observe ,assesses and review so I can the plan activities so they can achieve there Early learning goals within the EYFS framework .I plan activities that cover all areas of learning .I do daily dairies and learning journals with photographic evidence of the child's achievements that are shared with parents .  We go outside in all weathers so the children can experience and gain knowledge through having fun.
We also go on visits to other cultural places and celebrate all festivals and cultures within my setting.I have a wide range of multi cultural toys and resources which promote positive images.I offer a friendly, spacious environment indoors and outdoors.

I run a childminding group at St Augustine's.
