In Coventry children can attend a nursery class attached to a primary school the September after their third birthday.
Nursery classes do not have a catchment area this is because not all schools in the city have a nursery class attached to them.
How to apply for a nursery class place
It is advisable to contact your preferred nursery class at least a year before your child will start. Parents/carers need to be aware that it does not matter how early an application is submitted, the place will be allocated against the school's selection criteria.
To apply for a nursery class place parents/carers must contact their preferred nursery class directly. Parents/carers will be given a form to complete and information about how selection for a nursery class place is made at their preferred school. It is important for parents/carers to understand that although there is no catchment area for nursery classes; due to the high level of demand for spaces, schools will have their own selection criteria which will differ at each school.
If you are unsuccessful in securing a place, do not contact the schools admissions department as they have no input into nursery class allocation of places.
Attending a nursery class at a specific school does not guarantee a place at the reception class at the same school.
