Ability Counts Sky Blues in the Community

Ability Counts is a disability programme which offers a chance for young people with disabilities to represent Coventry City FC in an Ability Counts league across a variety of sports. Using the reach of Coventry City FC, this project gives children who often get over-looked in the competitive sporting community a feeling of belonging. Not only do we offer opportunity to children across the city but also respite to parents of SEN children who provide 24-hour support to their loved ones. Parents feel at ease when dropping their children off at a session – knowing that they are in professional, compassionate and trustworthy hands.

In 2018, SBitC registered 44 individuals on the Ability Counts project with nearly 3,000 hours of coaching. The numbers are growing yearly, and we predict in 2021 that we will have over 80 disabled individuals registered for competitive sports teams in Coventry and Warwickshire.  We offer unique pathways into national disability sport if we recognise an individual who excels in a certain sport.

Sessions Include:

Junior Ability Counts – Monday, Blue Coat Secondary School, 5-6pm (Sunday matches)

Adult Ability Counts – Tuesday, Moat House Leisure Centre, 6-7pm (Sunday matches)
