Phoenix Nursery at Wyken Croft Primary School

The nursery employs 12 staff who all hold childcare qualifications.

The nursery operates a free flow environment where children can independently access the resources.Throughout the day there are also adult led activities taking place so the children receive a balance of adult led and child led activities.Small group time takes place where children go to their key person groups and participate in planned activities that meet their individual needs. We also have a snack bar which the children access independently, large group singing and story time. All the resources that are available are age appropriate and will encourage all the children to learn and to progress in their development whilst having fun.

We encourage parents to be involved by having learning journals where parents can put in activities, pictures etc of what the children have been doing at home to correspond with what the children have been doing at nursery. Also weekend diaries where parents write about the children have been doing at home and this is a great source of information to help their key people plan for their child's learning.

The nursery has a wide selection of resources available which supports our planning using the Early Years Foundation Stage and the seven areas of learning - Personal,Social and Emotional Development,Communication and Language Development,Physical Development,Literacy Development,Maths,Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts.

We have a large garden area which has a large tarmac area. The outdoor area is fenced off and secure.
