CRASAC Children's and Young People's Counselling Service

Who is it for?

CRASAC Children's and Young People Counselling Service is available to girls, boys and young people from the age of 5 to 18 in Coventry who have experienced sexual violence, whether recently or at at any time in their lives. This may have been from someone they know or from a stranger.

At CRASAC we know that there is no typical survivor which is why we treat everyone who comes to us for support as an individual.  Monday & Thurs 6-8pm, use the online referral form

How to Refer

Referrals are taken by the CRASAC Helpline workers, in the first instance, who can be contacted on 024 7627 7777 during helpline hours.

Sometimes the phone cannot be answered personally. When this happens messages are stored confidentially and the call will be returned, usually within one working day. The helpline worker will ask for some information including your contact details and the reason for the referral.

If the referral is about a child or young person then a counsellor will contact you, usually within two working days, to discuss the referral and to make an initial assessment.

What happens next?

When you have made your referral we will contact you to carry out a telephone assessment. If at this stage the referral is deemed appropriate then, in the case of children aged 10 years and below, we will carry out a face to face assessment with the adult/s caring for the child.

If following this assessment, it is still felt to be appropriate for us to work with the child then we will then do a face to face assessment with the child of their needs and to ensure that these can be met by CRASAC services.

In the case of a young person aged 11 years and above we would want them to have given you their consent to speak with us first. We would then gather the relevant information  and arrange an assessment appointment with the young person.

When CRASAC has completed the assessment process you will be informed about the outcome and any recommendations.
