Coventry Sea Cadet Unit is based at Crescent Avenue in Binley on the former Marconi site. We also have many opportunities to go to sea on one of the sea cadet offshore ships or with the Royal Navy.
It has almost 100 male and female cadets aged 10 to 18 and 25 adult instructors drawn from all over the city and surrounding areas.
Everybody participates in the large range of activities on offer. These include sailing, powerboating, paddle sports, rowing, windsurfing, swimming, expedition training including the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, rock climbing, mountain biking, BTEC, first aid, seamanship, cooking, communications, target shooting and many more. Cadets also have the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications in many of these subjects.
The unit regularly wins major trophies and awards at local and national level and has again been awarded an ‘Efficiency Burgee’ from the Royal Navy after an outstanding inspection of our facilities and programme of training.
