Tamil Welfare Association

Our charity provides educational, cultural and social activities for children and young people of different faiths.

While these children do well academically in the British school system, they do not integrate easily into British society and struggle to make friends outside their community. These children learn the basics of the english language but have little confidence in using it and they feel different. These children lack confidence in any form of public speaking including expresssing their views in school and tend to be an easy target for bullying.

The parents have requested that the children have "lessons" to introduce and explain British culture, manners and etiquette. We want these children to be more confident and to be able to contribute to their community, in and out of school, while enjoying fully all the UK has to offer them. These families have or are in the process of settling here and want their children to fully integrate into British Society and become good citizens.

In addition we provide advise and help with translation, legal and immigration matters, school admissions, employment opportunities, housing etc.

This service isn't exclusively for the Tamil Society and is open to all - we welcome all members of the public.

We are a registered charity ( non profit making organisation) - as such the cost is spilt to meet the ends.
