Cherubs Community Playgroup

We are a flourishing playgroup in the North East of Coventry, we are 3 miles from the City Centre.

We actively encourage parents to engage with their children's learning by encouraging them into the setting; to use their skills, share their culture by telling stories, cooking. We encourage parents to share their jobs; we have annual visits from those that are nurses, police and fire station. We make the most of community facilities and use the buses to get to the library, with the children, we have a walk to Stoke Floods and our use the local shops. We have local visits from Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, where a member of staff from the Trust brings fun outdoor activities for our children to take part in.

We have a wide variety of experience we have previously supported children and family’s physical needs e.g. mobility, asthma, visual and hearing loss. We have years of experience of providing food and activities for children with dietary needs, whether it is a cultural or medical allergy, we have staff who are trained to administer an epi-pen. We support families with children who have a diagnosis of Autism and behaviour needs.

We have a large outside play area that children access daily, we have playhouses, bats, ball, mud kitchen, water play, bikes and scooters.

We are also available to offer a soft play experience, at Cherubs.

To support the relationship between home and Cherubs we offer three parents meetings a year, this provides an opportunity for the key person and parents to have some quality time building a three-way relationship.

We have developed good working relationships with many of the local primary schools, we have regular meetings and can arrange additional support for children with special educational needs (SEN).

We have links with local Family Hub, so we can access information about current support available to families in the area.

We have also arranged Speech and Language Workshops and Positive Parenting Programmes, provided workshops on how to do phonics and support your child with maths.

All staff are qualified in Early Years. The manager has qualified in a BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies at Warwick University and has a qualification in parent facilitating and NVQ in Leadership and Management. All staff hold a relevant childcare qualification and hold a Paediatric First Aid Qualification.

At Cherubs, we are committed to Safeguarding children and work closely with other organisations to maintain a good level of communication and to work to the needs of the child and family, agencies we work with are Social Care, Children and Families First. All staff are trained in current Safeguarding practises.

All adults working and having regular contact with the children have the Enhanced DBS all students and apprentices are mentored and supervised throughout.
